Tom has been running into his neighbor from 4B in the elevator for months. One day, he finally works up the courage to text him
Tom: Hey, this is Tom from 4A. I left a note in your mailbox, but I don't think you saw it.
Justin: Haha, yeah, I got it. Pretty smooth move, leaving a note with your number. What's up, neighbor?
Tom: Well, I was wondering if you have a drill I could borrow. I need to put up some shelves.
Justin: So you left me a note with your phone number just to ask for a drill?
Justin: Could've just knocked on my door, huh? Haha.
Tom: Yeah, well, I didn't want to bother you.
Justin: You're the weirdest guy in this building, Tom, haha. Yeah, I've got a drill. When do you need it?
Tom: Whenever works for you. No rush.
Justin: I can swing by now if you want. I'm just hanging out.
Tom: Sure, I'll leave the door open.
Two hours later.
Justin: Hey, thanks for the beers. That was fun.
Tom: Dude, we didn't even end up using the drill, haha.
Justin: Yeah, well, time flies when you're having a good conversation.
Tom: Hey, so what was that about you just getting out of something?
Justin: Yeah, it's been a month now. Three years together.
Tom: With a guy?
Justin: Yeah, with a guy.
Justin: Does that surprise you?
Tom: No.
Tom: Not at all.
Justin: Good.
Justin: What about you? Seeing anyone?
Tom: No. I've been on my own for a while.
Justin: Well, that's fixable.
