Arthur's been lost for three hours. He says it's been twenty minutes. His GPS keeps tracing perfect circles
Sunday, 08:30
Maggie: Morning, mushroom hunters. Meet at the old roadside spring at nine. Back at the cars by two, everyone. Graham's making a Sunday roast.
Graham: I've shared my live location. Turn yours on too. These woods are huge, and you know how patchy the signal is.
Arthur: I'm heading off on my own toward the charcoal burners' clearing. Always plenty of porcini there. Don't follow me. That's my spot 😄
Ben: dad, you're 62 and last year you got lost looking for the car
Arthur: Last year the car was parked in the wrong place.
Sunday, 14:05
Maggie: Everyone's back at the cars except Arthur.
Graham: His location's about three kilometers away, toward the charcoal burners' clearing. He's moving.
Ben: dad, where are you?
Arthur: I'm here, I'm here. Been trying to find the way back for twenty minutes and got myself turned around. On my way now.
Maggie: Twenty minutes? Arthur, you left us at eleven.
Arthur: Exactly. It's twenty to twelve. You've still got time to get back for the roast.
Graham: It's ten past two, Arthur.
Arthur: My watch says 11:40. So does my phone.
15:20
Graham: Sending you a screenshot of his route.
Graham: image2.jpg
Graham: He's going in circles. A perfect circle. I measured it: 333 meters across. Exactly.
Graham: And every lap takes the same amount of time. Twenty minutes on the dot. He's done ten laps.
Ben: dad, stay right where you are
Ben: we're coming to get you
Arthur: I am staying put, Ben. I'm in a lovely clearing. Not sure how I got here.
Graham: He's not staying put. His dot's still moving.
