After fifteen years, Emily reaches out to Mark. A long time, and so much to catch up on
Today, 7:47 PM
Emily: Mark?
Mark: Yeah? Who's this?
Emily: It's Emily. Emily Miller. I don't know if you remember me.
Mark: Emily... of course I remember you. How did you get my number?
Emily: I saved it years ago. I hope you don't mind me reaching out.
Mark: No, what a surprise. It's been so long. How are you?
Emily: Good. You? Tell me how life's been treating you.
Mark: Good, good. I got married six years ago, we have a little daughter. I work in architecture, we live in Chicago.
Emily: I'm glad things worked out for you. Really.
Emily: What's your wife's name?
Mark: Patricia. She's a doctor. What about you? Seeing anyone?
Emily: No. There's never been anyone else after you.
Mark: Wow... I didn't know that.
Emily: I never could. Fifteen years is a long time to still be thinking about someone.
Mark: Emily...
Emily: I'm just telling the truth. I always thought about you. I couldn't help it.
Emily: I always thought about writing to you...
Emily: and today I finally went for it.
Mark: Look, what we had was a long time ago. We were both kids. I'm happy with Patricia, and I don't want you to get the wrong idea about this.
Emily: Don't worry. I just wanted to see how you were doing.
Emily: Where did you say you guys live in Chicago?
Mark: In the Loop. And where are you now?
Emily: Close by.
Mark: Hey, where have you been these fifteen years? I never heard anything about you.
